Revolution Lighting Technologies (NASDAQ:RVLT), announced today that their Tri-State LED division is approaching the completion of the largest LED lighting retrofit in Connecticut at the Connecticut Convention Center (CCC) in Hartford. The project is being performed in cooperation with the (“Lead by Example Program”) adopted by Governor Daniel Malloy and Northeast Utilities (NU).
As previously stated, Governor Daniel Malloy said, “The Lead by Example program is the first step towards achieving my vision of making Connecticut the most energy efficient state in the nation.”
“Revolution Lighting Technologies and Tri-State LED are proud to be an integral part in CCC’s commitment to becoming a greener nation and achieving their energy efficiency goals while significantly reducing their Net Operating Expenses (NOE).” [Said RVLT EXECUTIVE]
The project will remove an unprecedented 2 megawatts off the grid equating to more than a 70% reduction in lighting energy. The Convention Center will see a complete return on investment (ROI) in less than 3 years as well as a reduction in its carbon footprint of over 2,621,000 pounds annually. The new LED lighting project will also result in an additional rebate from Connecticut’s Northeast Utilities.
“CCC has already seen noticeable reductions in their energy use and costs, resulting in HVAC and maintenance cost savings as well.” said Mike Costelli, General Manager, Connecticut Convention Center.
The current interior lighting project consisted of retrofitting or replacing approximately 3,500 fluorescent fixtures with over 5,000 LED tubes and 1,200 LED troffers. In addition over 900 high wattage Metal Halide lamps were replaced with 200 watt LED high bays and cylinder fixtures and over 1,800 incandescent PAR lamps and MR16’s with new Energy Star LED lamps.
The current exterior lighting project consisted of retrofitting or replacing over 500 Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium lamps with new energy efficient LED wall packs, floods and landscape lighting.
“Because our state-of-the-art LED lighting solutions use less than half the energy of traditional lighting, the load on CCC’s systems will be substantially reduced, resulting in greater operational efficiency and financial savings.” said Ron Young President, Tri-State LED.
